General Summary:  Provide leadership, supervision and management for freshmen transfer admissions counseling staff.  Assists in strategy development to meet enrollment goals.

Job duties include:

  • Responsible for hiring and supervising freshmen and transfer admissions counseling team who are trained to articulate university messages, select the best-fit SPU students, and to provide exceptional service to families throughout the enrollment process. Ultimate responsibility for the productivity and performance of this team.
  • Manages geographic recruitment travel assignments and registration for all events. Accountable for strategy and management of assigned freshmen recruitment budget.
  • Manages travel publications and serves as lead/liaison between University Communications on those marketing projects.
  • Ability to develop relationships with students and leaders of ethnically underrepresented backgrounds through culturally responsive and informed conversations and outreach events.
  • Works with AVP to execute admission and scholarship policy and strategy to meet new student enrollment goals. Promotes strategies across campus by developing relationships with individuals and offices that may play a role in admission work and achievement of goals.
  • Is a member of the Admissions Leadership Team which develops overall enrollment strategy for both freshmen and transfer students. Responsible for presenting agenda items and perspective related to recruitment.
  • Collaborates with Admissions Leadership Team and University Communications to shape university messages for new student publications, web content, advertising, and other marketing strategies and products focused on new students.
  • Works with university leaders across campus to ensure a smooth transition for new students.  Serves as liaison to New Student Advising and Orientation events.
  • Meets with and interviews prospective students with the purpose of assessing their admissibility and fit for the university as well as communicating the distinct qualities of SPU.
  • Manages 2-3 geographic regions assigned by the AVP.  Cultivates prospective students in the assigned travel areas. Travels to assigned areas visiting high schools, community colleges, and church para-church organizations, college fairs, and individual families. Identifies groups of students who will best fit SPU's Christian mission and identity and admissions requirements.
  • Utilizes the admissions CRM (Slate) to carry out strategic initiatives, analyze reports, and manage recruitment efforts. Must have a high level of knowledge and comfort with this tool.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree, preferred. Education in marketing or related industry experience, a plus.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in university enrollment with five years of supervisory experience.  Demonstrated marketing experience in higher education.
  • Experience in Christian higher education and professional experience in an enrollment management model, a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication; effective public speaking skills. Interpersonal and team development skills for effective staff leadership and management; exceptional human relational skills. 
  • Excellent proactive planning, organizational and project management skills.  Effective resource management.
  • The ability to create effective partnerships/collaborations. The ability to inspire staff to "catch the vision." 
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • A maturing and contagious Christian faith. Knowledge of, ability to articulate, and willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the life-style standards of the Christian Community. 

Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled.

Salary:  $69,000 - $71,000 DOE

This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes generous contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan. Tuition discount program (50% - 90%) available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
