General Summary:  Reports to the Associate Director of Advancement and partners with the University Advancement team as well as campus stakeholders and leaders. Cultivates, solicits and stewards a portfolio of University donors and prospects - alumni, parents of students, and friends of the University - to secure major gifts and bequest commitments.

Job Description:

  • Models and promotes the mission and objectives of Seattle Pacific University. Clearly understands and articulates the University's mission and vision, maintains current knowledge of University goals, priorities, and programs.
  • In alignment with the University's funding priorities and goals, manages a portfolio of 100-150 constituents including leads comprised of major gift prospects and bequest prospects with the potential to give planned and deferred gifts. Solicitations strategized and presented in partnership with the Director of Endowments and Gift Planning.
  • For each constituent, manages the portfolio (qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship) to deepen connections with the University and to build a pipeline of major gift and bequest donors.
  • Responsible for creation and evaluation of annual goals regarding solicitations, bequests, and visits to effectively manage donor relationships.
  • Identifies strategic priority donors and partner with the Donor Relations and Stewardship Manager to plan and execute purposeful stewardship and cultivation activities, e.g. impact reports, student visits, student thank yous.
  • Facilitates strategic engagement of SPU stakeholders, senior leadership, deans, and faculty, with prospective and current donors to help cultivate donor relationships and demonstrate gift impact and outcomes.
  • Participates in weekly Constituents Strategy/Fundraising Team meetings, UA Team meetings, all-staff gatherings, UA events, e.g. Homecoming, President's Circle Dinner, Wellspring Luncheon.
  • Takes primary responsibility for all administrative activity including travel arrangements, expense reports and correspondence.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three to five years of industry related experience. Experience in donor cultivation and gift solicitation, a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and to thrive in a self-directed environment. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and aptitude to work well with diverse constituencies, including professors, business professionals, and clients of all ages.
  • Knowledge of planned gift strategies and vehicles is a plus.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within United States.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite. Experience with donor management software is preferred.

Salary: DOE

This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan. Tuition discount program available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
